Assuming same suspension setup on both, the 27.5+ bike will have more climbing traction, especially in techy situations. cmndr_spanky โ€ข 5 yr. ago. Plus size tires do make up some of the difference in pedal clearance that you'd normally find on a 29er I think. So 27.5+ is a nice middle ground between 29 and 27.5-regular. Another thing about 27.5" being very close to 26", is that they are easy to get moving from a standstill. That's the biggest knock against 29" IMO, as well as tough in tight switchbacks As far as 29" gearing, I converted mine to "ghetto 2X10" by removing big ring and replacing with bash, and swapping stock middle ring with 30T. IME 29 feels a wee bit faster and rolls over a few more things, but whether itโ€™s more fun depends on what terrain youโ€™re riding. What is more fun depends on your riding style and your local terrain/trails. There is no answer outside of that. I ran 2.8 27.5's for 2 years, and I'm back on 2.3 29's now. 29's seem to accelerate and brake faster There's a few potential sizing factors for 27.5 vs 29. One is inseam and buzzing the rear tire. I'm a 6'5" former bmx rider and occasionally will tuck the bike enough on jumps to buzz my butt (not a real problem though). The buzzing becomes a problem when you can't avoid it and that's partially due to inseam and maybe due to technique. Looking at 2020+ model year mountain bikes there are many more 29" options than there are 27.5" or 26". Even 5-6 years ago there were many more 27.5" options available than today. If you look at reviews, group tests, and race results across all styles of mountain biking you will see 29" wheels are on the podium exponentially more than 27.5". In choosing the correct tube for your bike, there are a number of factors to consider -. 1. Wheel diameter. Select the correct wheel diameter for your bike. This is usually measured in inches, and the current MTB standards are 26", 27.5" (aka 650b) or 29". This will be written on the side of your tyre. e.g. 29x2.25 is a 29" wheel. I don't think the industry is going to go bigger than 29". Already geo has to be a bit funky to deal with 29er requirements. Too many trade-offs to go bigger. I think the bigger change is going to be settling on wheel width (boost vs super boost, etc). 27.5 is much more maneuverable. Vay Nhanh Fast Money.
